About the project

The study aims to provide baseline information towards the IFC’s Somali Investment Climate Reform Project (ICRP-II) and Somali Unlocking Sector Investment Project (SUSIP) which both seek to catalyze investment and enhance private sector led economic growth and competitiveness in Somaliland. The project consists of two components: one on business regulations and the other on investment promotion. The business regulations baseline aims to map de jure and de facto processes, as well as recommendations for improvement, for business regulations including business registration, business licensing, business inspections and construction permits. The investment promotion baseline aims to collect baseline data towards the Investment Generated (IG) indicator, develop a methodology for data collection for the IG indicator throughout the SUSIP project, develop investment profiles for the ICT and energy sectors, and conduct a demand analysis of the Berbera Corridor.
