About the project
Tusmo was contracted to provide a 3-year TPM, focusing on KfW’s infrastructure investments in informal settlements around Baidoa, Somalia. Working closely with KfW’s implementing partner, ILO, Tusmo and partner Altai were tasked to validate the baseline surveys conducted by ILO, and thereafter monitor the effects on the local communities around Baidoa of the array of ILO-constructed projects, including new roads, drainage channels, marketplaces, etc. Tusmo’s work has a specific focus on conflict sensitivity, given that the project is working in a highly conflicted environment with Al Shabaab in the vicinity of the project implementation sites, and also is working in areas largely populated by people displaced by the conflict into new informal slum areas surrounding Baidoa.
